The News

Good say everypony, Lion here.

I have good news and bad news.

The good one is that Children of the Night is resuming.  It's still a huge task and one that took me some time to see 'one day at a time'

The bad one is that I don't like what some parts look like anymore.  It's choppy.. square.. lipsynch sucks in some areas and Luna's puppet is a gumbo that needs to be addressed.  In other words, it's nowhere near the quality that I gave for the documentary and is NOT a good representation of what I can do anymore.

So to that effect, some sections that I thought were done will have a revisit and/or will be completely redone. (Some shots, not all)

The speed should pick up however as working with JanAnimations sure helped put some things in perspective and showed me better ways of doing some shots.  Don't lose hope, we're still alive :)

  2. No worries. Better done right than done quick I'd say. Take your time and get it the way "you" want it.

  3. I'll all for taking more time if it mean higher quality in the end. So, take all the time you need!

  4. Revising earlier work to keep the quality consistent is never a bad thing. You know what they say, good things are worth waiting for. :]

  7. Well, that will make it take longer for us to actually watch it, but I'm TOTALLY willing to wait the extra time, knowing that things will look better. :)

One question: of the shots you're thinking about redoing, is this one (0:28-0:31), in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53QXDyZKYlc, one of them? I don't mean to criticize, but after looking at it in the animatic, and then in the video, I expected it to move a little better.

Anyway, great job so far, and I'm sure this fan-animation will turn out to be something quite memorable.

  8. Thanks for update, do you have a rough guess of when it'll be done?

  9. It's all right to take more time if it's for the sake of giving us the best you can make and I will wait the time it takes (^-^) so don't stress yourself to much about that (^-^) and have fun, it's not suppose to become a burden for you right :)

  10. nice, i can see that after working with other ppl makes you better, so i guess that after all that experience you got while working with jananimation make you see little flaws you want to correct.

man that is proof that you've improved, and thus, the animation you will make will also improve.

so, i hope everything goes just awesome with this, and cherrs for you ^^

  11. Not surprising. Taking a break to work on other projects almost always results in having a slightly different perspective on what you have done when you come back to it anyway in my experience. but then adding in that you got to see how another animator works only adds to it.

To me this is a good sign, not just to this project but any future works as well. I know I'll be here waiting patiently. :)

  12. So here's a living proof for a truth long discovered, "Let your literary compositions be kept from the public eye for nine years at least" (Horace) :)

That's actually great news that You're more skilled now and CotN will be *even better* when finished :)

It's fantastic to even know that in some distant corner of the world You're working on it :)

Best wishes for You and Spiritto :)

  14. Take all the time you need. A project is only late as long as it is late. If it sucks, it will suck forever.

  15. On the contrary, this is good news. I have lots of respect for a creator that is concerned with perfection. I'm glad that you have been able to find scenes you don't like.

Not sure about the 12 FPS though.
