Animatic now Available!

Heythere!  Richard here.. (y'know, Lionheartcartoon)

And have we got a treat for you!!
The animatic has just finished uploading to Spirit's youtube channel.

Let us know what you think!

Keep in mind that this is our main reference and that suggestions are likely not to affect the final product.  We're already in production as you could see from the still frames we are currently showing.

It does give you a good idea of what's gonna be done, however, and also reveals the song we chose :)

Some shots in there are upgraded shots from what was originally draft to make sure the layout was still working with a detailed version of the background.  The keyframe animation in there was all done by me for timing purposes as well as reference for final animation.

So there you go!  Enjoy! :)

  1. It's really inspiring to see what you've been working on. I'm really amazed by all you've done so far and I'm really glad you chose to share the progress along the way. :) Looking forward to it even more now that I've seen the animatic.
The choice of song is so lovely. The fancy flying and that sweeping, swooping shot toward the moon looked fantastic. The ending was quite haunting and ominous... particularly as not seeing little ponies following her made me wonder if she'd abandoned them during the flight. :(

  3. This is gorgeous! I really enjoy the imagery and camera moves. The playful yet haunting nature of the song. Those poor foals! Let this be a lesson to all those who tell the tale of Nightmare night!

    1. Thank you so much Trish!

We particularly like this song because is sweet and eerie at the same time. We had it for a long time, and everytime we heard it, we could see the movie running in our heads, until we finally took a breath and decided to take it out of them. :)

  4. Nothing about this isn't fantastic. There's a lot of feels packed into that song, and the animatic cranks them up to 'i can't handle it' levels. I can't wait for the finished product; it is probably going to kill me.

  7. Amazing. I've watched it non-stop for about an hour now. Even though Luna flies only at like, what? 2 FPS or so? It still looks very elegant. I didn't think that was possible.

Good luck! Can't wait for the final product.

  8. You want to know what I think? I think you are as gods. Seriously. This by itself is one of the most amazing fan-made films I have ever seen. Just imagining how it will be when it's completed pretty much staggers my mind. Your talent and dedication are overwhelmingly inspiring.

  10. How long is this mini-movie going to be, roughly?

  11. It is kind of sad that it always about Luna, always Luna centered. I know it is easy with her, but I really desperate to see something as much complex (in-character and show-wise) but with Celestia. Unfortunately, it is very hard, because even some writers from the show has issues with her proper character portrayal (Megan McCathy as an example).

Oh well, may be one day someone talented enough will try his/her hands on this character.

  13. Such a beautiful, haunting premise. The music is heartbreaking, the animatic an alluring visual - this will be a breathtaking piece, I have no doubt.

    Follow, sweet children.

  14. It's like a Norse fairy tale, sad and beautiful. Very much looking forward to the final version, however, the pencil drawing story board also fits in beautifully with the darker aspects, but over all and in one word: chilling

  16. Is this song based off another song? The melody sounds familiar for some reason. And can is there a story going on here? I don't understand.

    1. The song comes from the movie Hocus Pocus, and it is voiced by Kate Covington, who remade all the sound and did the singing.

We use Photoshop, Flash, After Effects and Premiere (same software than in the show). The story will make sense when we will release the full thing.

  19. I tell one thing.
YOU , TWO PEOPLE, MADE LUNA SO MUCH BETTER. You gave her a personality she deserve. Personality even I gave her in my Team Awesome. A real PRINCESS OF THE NIGHT.

And please... allow me to make a little Fan comic of that. First 30 seconds only, I will make it as best as I can ( link to my DA http://bonaxor.deviantart.com/ )
